Korean Learn (Level 1 part 2) [네 (ne) and 아니요 (aniyo)]
now we wanna learn about 네 (ne) and 아니요 (aniyo)
네 (ne) and 아니요 (aniyo) are polite style 존댓말 (jondaetmal)
in korean when people say 네 (ne) its not the same as saying "yes" in english. and the same goes with 아니요 (aniyo) not the same as people say "no" in english
In korean 네 (ne) express your agreement and 아니요 (aniyo) express your dissagreement
example :
(?) : you don't like coffe? [커피 안 좋아해요? {kheopi an johahaeyo?}]
if you don't like coffee you have to say 네 (ne) for the answer
so it is more accurate to put it this way
네 (ne) : that is right/ I agree/ sound good/ what you said is correct
while 아니요 (aniyo) : that is not right/ I do not agree/ what you said is in correct
hm so that we must remember that korean system for saying yes and no is different from english..... ^_^
now is about 네 (ne) that more than yes or that is right
네 (ne) also used as a conversation filler. when korean people talking each other we will hear 네 (ne) quite often, even when it is not intended to mean yes
example:
A : you know what, I bought this book yesterday | B : 네 (ne) | A : and I really like it | B : 네 (ne) | A : it was 100 dolars | B : 네?(ne?) ......
from the example 네 (ne) is multi-player, it can be : yes / that is right, but also : I see/ I got it/ I'm here (when some one call you)/ I understand/ ah-ha / etc...
cuz of 네 (ne) focus on agreement rather than its true or not and it could be a filler which u knows all it means so korean people will add 맞아요 (majayo) after 네 (ne) to express more strongly that you say "you are right" 네, 맞아요 (ne, majayo) = yes, that is right
네 (ne) is amazing it can be many things already but it can also be "what did you say?" or "pardon me?" or "im sorry?" or "I did not hear you well" with "네?" (ne?)
네 (ne) you can also use it to show that you are surprised "네?"
just increase ur tone when you speak so it would be "네?"
hm enough for now and now you can use 네 (ne) and 아니요 (aniyo) correctly and you can say 네, 맞아요 when other people opinion is right
see you in the next Korean Learn
